Adding Documents
|
|
|
|
|
WebDOCK currently offers four different ways to add documents to your storage space. You may click on the following upload methods to learn more about each:
Since WebSCAN is the most powerful
and widely used method of the four, we will focus on
it during this walk-through. WebSCAN is a full featured
document imaging application that you install on your
windows based PC or laptop. It can be used to scan and
import paper documents as well as process electronic
documents already on your hard drive or server.
Scanning
Once you have placed your document
in the scanner, you will then click on the Scan Document
button within the WebSCAN application. After a short
time your document will be visible and you will select
a folder to place the document into. Once selected,
the proper index fields will be displayed for that folder.
Index fields are a way for you to store key pieces of
information about a document, and then search for that
piece of information at a later time. Index fields usually
store important information like dates, names, check
numbers, social security numbers, etc. Once you have
all of the information filled out, you click on Save
All Pages, then you process the next document.
Uploading
When you are ready to upload the
batch of documents that you have processed, simply click
on the Upload to WebDOCK button. You will be asked to
connect to the Internet and then all the scanned documents
and index information is securely transferred up to
the server for processing. If the upload process is
interrupted for any reason, all information will be
re-sent on the next upload until it is done successfully.
